Dear Parents and Students,

I hope you are having a lovely January.

I’d like to begin by outlining our study method, and my expectations for students attending the classes.

  • Step 1 – Focus deeply during class. This means no phones, no distractions, take part in all questions, and clear your doubts.
  • Step 2 – Revise. Go through what we learnt during class on the same day or the day after. To strengthen your recall abilities, try explaining the topic to a friend.
  • Step 3 – Do Questions. I recommend you buy the VCE Physics Cambridge Checkpoints book and do a minimum of 5 questions after each class.

Year 10/11 – Units 1 & 2

Welcome to Learn Physics if you are a new student. Feel free to ask questions, or give me any feedback 🙂

For existing students, we have completed at least 1 topic by now (Waves for some of you and Electricity for others). I will send you mock exams to do individually.

Year 12 – Units 3

We have now completed all the new topics in Unit 3 – motion. There’s a small portion left that repeats Year 11 content, which we’ll complete soon.

I have attached a mock exam for you to do on the concepts we have completed. Please write your answers neatly and send them to me for checking. The exam does not have to be timed, and I recommend using only the formula sheet and your ‘back of book’ cheat sheet. It is okay to refer to your notes and textbooks.

Year 12 – Units 4

We will start an optional Unit 4 class from Monday 26 January 2026 at 4:15pm.

Unit 4 contains content that students have not seen before in year 10 or 11. Most schools teach this new content just before SACS and very close to the final exam, giving students very little time to get familiar with them. That’s why I teach these topics early, so students have an opportunity to study them twice before the exam. It also allows us to complete the full study design by about August, giving enough time for exam revision.

Treat this one like an extra-curricular activity, and the expectation is for you to do 1 hour of class, and 1 hour of questions each week.

Fees: $50 per class

You do not have to attend this class – we will cover Unit 4 anyway once we finish unit 3 in regular classes. This class just lets you see it twice, and well in advance of your SACS. For students who are only here for content, it’ll allow them to completely study all content early, and then stop tuition.

To join please reply to this email or text/call me on 040 773 1422.

As I already have 6 students registered, there are only a few spots left. If there is enough interest I may consider opening a second class on a different day.

As always, I am open to your feedback or suggestions on how I can make tutoring even better.

I cannot express how thankful I am that you are part of Learn Physics!
